The internet has radically changed all aspects of communication, and because of that, some people are simply too scared about communicating well that they don't communicate at all. They're too worried about what people will think to do anything. They never fully commit and because of that they never gain anything out of life. It's really that they never feel like they're a part of the groups they're in so they feel empty.
