Baggage from the past
Are you holding onto old baggage from your past? Most of us have past memories of things which we regret, whether we were the cause of them or not. Unfortunately it’s common for these past events to determine aspects of the rest of our lives! Why do we give past memories so much power over us? Realizing this is the first step to changing it. Realize that you are not who you were before, you can reinvent yourself in an instant- however long it takes to change your beliefs and attitudes about who you are.
I did some things in my younger years I could choose to be ashamed of, but I look at that self as not me. That was a different person, a person with different beliefs, different morals, different everything.
Who you are is simply what you define yourself to be NOW. Choose what you want to be, and then “be it”, and “live it”! You can release old memories by deciding THAT IS NOT YOU.
Apply this to people in the past who have wronged you… exercise forgiveness and realize they may not be the same person anymore. Of course some people choose not to change for the better, and we must avoid attracting them into our lives anymore.
For a lot more on this subject, author Chuck Gallozzi has written a great article a few days ago on overcoming your past, read it here. If you subscribe to the newsletter (along the left column of that page) you have already seen it. Enjoy!
